Thibodaux, Louisiana
in memory of
I coached him. He played basketball for me — not at the time, because I think he was already in college — but a year before, he was on one of my basketball teams.
I remember interacting with him — his smile. He was always happy. Every year, I would do a kind of “Midnight Madness” when we could start practicing. I’d have the kids come in early, around six in the evening, and we’d go through team-building activities. I remember Eric participating in one of those events and just having so much fun.
Every time you walk into a gym, it makes you think of him, because Eric was always practicing with us. Even now, when I watch games on TV, it reminds me of Eric playing. He loved the game, and he was always having fun doing it.
I would want to go back and thank him for all the work he put in for four years with our program. He was taken way too soon.
