Favorite Youth Activity/Spot
“In college there was a bar called Goobers. I went to Nicholls State University so it was in Thibodaux. We used to go there—Friday nights were country and western night, where they had line dancing and just goofing around.”
Favorite Youth Memory
“We would leave the bar (there used to be like a group of 15-20 of us). The bar closed down around midnight and there weren’t a lot of people on the streets, so we would literally make a line dance and dance all the way back to the university…singing loudly…very much offkey…really badly. But, we did it, and it was just good fun. Everybody just had a really good time. Some people would literally swing dance and twirl themselves around. Others would just kind of get in a group and hang out. It took about twenty or thirty minutes to get back to school and we would be exhausted by then. But it was so much fun. And that place is completely gone now, so there is no reminiscing. I can’t go back. I can’t look at it . I can’t visit the school spots. That’s completely gone now. But that was really fun.”
