Coastal land loss does affect me for a number of reasons. One, I like to go fishing and recreate along the coast and I’ve seen those changes over time so it worries me. It affects me in my job, too, a lot of work I do is with restoration along our coast. And so, there’s a lot of things about coastal land loss that involves me in my private life as well as my public life.
So what I’m doing to help save the coast is part of my job of restoration projects to understand how we can better restore our coast. I’m also involved in the non-profit, Cajun Music Preservation Society, and we do a lot to preserve the Cajun music of our region. So not only am I working to preserve the physical aspects of our coast with restoration projects, but also the cultural aspects of our coast.
