Yes. As a resident of South Louisiana, coastal land loss affects me in numerous ways. Economically, culturally, and ecologically. All of these are in play with coastal land loss.
So I am a researcher at Nicholls State University and our lab is the coastal ecology lab. So one of the things we like to do is research at the coast, so we do a lot of projects down there that are aimed at conserving our coast. Not just the culture, but the species that live there and the ecosystems there. We also do a lot of educational outreach with the community on what’s going on.
