Favorite Seafood Memory

My favorite seafood memory is my grandmother, who used to make a shrimp and okra gumbo.

Who made it best?

My grandmother. Since she’s passed, a few of us have tried. Nobody makes it as good as her, but I think I do the best interpretation because I know how to do her roux now, and I know how to spice it.

Favorite Restaurant

The only place I found a seafood and okra gumbo, which is pretty much the same, but I think they also had some crab meat in it, at Grady V’s, and it actually was pretty good. However, I go pretty heavy on my okra when I make it because I like the okra. So I enjoyed Grady V’s, but I do wish they would have had a little more okra in it.

Best Seafood

I like A&B Seafood in Houma. A&B usually has pretty good, and that’s, of course, like raw, live, not, you know, cooked. If I’m doing, like, boiled, then a lot of times I’ll stay in town. I’ll go to Crawdaddy’s. I’ll go to Boogadu for crawfish.
